Yet another Linux sys admin position. I'm noticing a lot of open SA positions
in our area. If you know of any sys admins outside of the state who have been
wanting to move in, now is the time for them to take advantage of some pretty

Linux System Administrator

Salt Lake City based Secure Identity firm is immediately seeking a full-time
Systems Administrator to assist them in administering all *ix servers
(currently migrating from Solaris to Red Hat). This position will be on-site,
with no travel and minimal on-call responsibilities.

This position is mid-senior level and responsibilities will include:
installation, backups, patch management, performance tuning,
scripting/automation of recurring tasks, day-to-day system resource management
and monitoring. Candidates will need to interface with Software Engineers, QA,
PKI staff, and Network Engineering in the determination of deadlines &
priorities for application development & system tasks. Occasional after hour
maintenance will be required.

In this position candidates will be given the opportunity to learn and support
cross-platform environments. This is a salaried position with benefits. Due to
the nature of the information being managed, candidates must be able to pass a
credit and criminal background check.

A solid understanding of a *ix operating systems, inter-process communication,
file system concepts.

Experienced System Administration in an highly available server infrastructure.

Basic understanding of Operating System security and auditing.

Basic networking (TCP/IP) understanding is required.

Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP. LDAP.

Working knowledge of tape backup/recovery and disaster planning and recovery.

Strong Perl and UNIX shell scripting expertise & related utilities is preferred.


Understanding of SAN/NAS and associated protocols.

Experience programming and supporting systems using Java is preferred.

Oracle 11g experience is preferred.

Cryptography/PKI experience is a plus.


Bachelor degree in computer science or a related discipline is ideal, but not
necessarily a requirement if candidates posses lengthy industry experience.
