Job Description:
This company is looking for a candidate that will lead system engineering for
the design, development, implementation, integration and support of enterprise
monitoring systems within the department. Monitoring systems may include
Nagios, Wily Introscope, HP BAC Suite, Microsoft System Center Operations
Manager (SCOM), Foglight, IBM Netcool, and others. Candidate will have an
intimate knowledge of varying middleware, database, and networking systems. In
addition, they will have a track record of productivity, and can both work
independently and effectively provide technical leadership for other
specialists. Must have a strong willingness to learn and apply new
technologies as they relate to this position.

This role is responsible for providing and leading design, implementation,
integration, and administration support for systems used for monitoring
critical infrastructure/application components for this company. Selected
candidate will provide technical leadership to the Monitoring Engineering team
that develops and deploys proactive monitoring solutions in a large
distributed environment.
• Maintains enterprise monitoring infrastructure and related interfaces.
• Configures views, rules, and automates tasks associated with distributed
systems (database, network, application, web, hardware and OS).
• Integrates alerts from various monitoring and diagnostic tools into a single
24x7 interface.
• Manages the event management and report databases using Oracle, MS SQL
Server and MySQL.
• Works with other departments, locations, and new projects to deploy
monitoring solutions to business systems.
• Generates, modifies, and troubleshoots programs and scripts used for
monitoring or automating systems performance statistics.
• Focus on providing automation and self-service interfaces to complex tasks.
• Respond to all customer monitoring related technical issues and resolve rapidly

Additional Job Info:
• 5-10+ years of experience in the analysis, design, implementation and
support of Enterprise Monitoring systems • 1-2 years of Software development
skills in C or C++ or Java • Strong knowledge of networking protocols • Strong
knowledge of Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems • Demonstrate good
knowledge with middleware and database technologies • Must have excellent
people skills, as well as great verbal, written, and interaction skills. •
Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Perl, PHP, others) • In depth
experience working with at least one major management platform (OpenView,
Unicenter, Tivoli, etc) • Bachelor of Science degree in (or equivalent) in
related area of study (Computer Science, Information Technology, or other. •
Experience working with Network support services (i.e. DNS, SNMP, HTTP,
others) • Project leadership experience • Technical team leadership experience
(formal or informal) • Experience with Open Source monitoring solutions. •
Strong design and architectural background, and demonstrated success in this
area in previous work. • Strong cross group collaboration skills, and
experience working with both internal and external partners and customers. •
Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
