Well we certainly are becoming more and more protectionist and more and
more anti-free market as far as trade is concerned.  The recent snubbing
of the NAFTA ruling against American softwood lumber tariffs by the Bush
administration is yet another example of this.

As for sliding into socialism, well no.  I say we're not.
