- Additional Information:
My name is Scott Morris, and I currently work as a Linux system administrator and PHP Developer. We have 7 servers, 5 of which run on openSUSE. Of the remaining 2, one runs CentOS, and the other is a Red Hat 9 box.
I’ve used around 25 different versions of 5 different operating systems over a period of more than 20 years. Of those many operating systems, I worked well in MS-DOS (yeah, pre-1992); Windows 95 – Windows XP (I skipped Windows 3.1 – I didn’t care for it at all); Mac OS 9.x – X (incl. Leopard, etc.); and Mandrake (now Mandriva), Red Hat, Fedora, Gentoo, and OpenSUSE Linux. And by the way, I have, in fact, been clinically diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. I like new shiny things, or can hyperfocus on something until my kidneys start to shut down from starvation.
My favorite machine that I ever had was my 8088 with the 1200 baud modem in it that connected to the 300 baud news bulletin board system. Of course, that was 1991, and such technology may not even work anymore.
I have done several projects in C++, though I wouldn’t consider myself uber fluent. My PHP skills are senior-level. Javascript, CSS, and Ajax are also part of my skillset. Maybe someday, I’ll put up some classes that I’ve done in C++ and PHP, just in case they may be of benefit for someone else.
I’ve done Visual Basic just like everyone else, but I don’t consider that a “programming” language (technically, PHP is “scripting” rather than “programming,” but who wants to split hairs?).
For the time being, you can check out my resume, if you feel so inclined.
Additionally, I’d like to invite you to take a look at the articles I’ve written for Novell.
