It's okay.  It took me a long time to realize that this:

cat filename | less

Could be shortened to this:

less filename

My other two favorite cli shortcuts:

Ctrl-D (on a blank line) - closes a terminal
Ctrl-L - clears the terminal screen

It's the little things that bug you, at least when you find out there is
a better way, and you've wasted all that time.
