I've seen some short patch cables that wires the four pair in straight
pairs (1&2, 3&4,5&6,7&8) -- which does work for short distances on
100mbit, but certainly isn't desirable, especially for gigabit speeds.
 I wouldn't expect that from Belkin, though.
