Configuring git to always show short SHAs?

Answering my own question from man git-log:

You can setup an alias to git log that uses "git log --abbrev-commit", and that seems to provide the magic I want, at least for git-log. The git-reflog already seems to do what I want. Is there anywhere else I should do this? Perhaps not.
