Novell is immediately seeking to add engineering talent to our Suse Linux
Enterprise Desktop and GNOME development team. For the right person, this is
an exciting role to assist in the development and enhancement of the Suse
Linux platform, GNOME desktop and desktop applications.

Description (Duties and Responsibilities):
This experienced software engineer will participate in all aspects of the
software development process for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop/GNOME
products. Very strong linux distribution and development skills are
required. A willingness to learn and ask questions, work on any area of the
SLED desktop, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to focus on
problem resolution are required. This position will work with the product
management, testing, and documentation teams to design, develop and test
high-quality products.

Responsibilities Include:
- Packaging and building software for distribution
- Automation of build, release and maintenance processes
- Maintaining released software
- Developing value add software for SLED/GNOME
- Developing and improving user interfaces
- Working with the openSUSE open source community

Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or equivalent and 3-4 years related work
experience.
- Strong experience developing with C on Linux
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team (local and
distributed/international team members)

Preferred Skills:
- Experience with OpenSUSE Build Service
- Experience packaging in RPM format
- Experience across the breadth of the SLED GNOME desktop
- Experience developing with C++, Mono, shell scripting, Python and Perl on
Linux
- Experience with GTK+, clutter, and other Linux related toolkits
- Experience working with open source software and communities
