Possibly OT: Splitting Hairs Over GPL?

My prior employer shipped several software titles that included GPL
software, including a complete, custom distribution in one. Some of
them were windows apps that installed GPL software that their code
invoked.
IANAL, but from what I understand, this is exactly the type of use
that the GPL is designed to protect and allow.

You can probably email your question to the EFF and get a straight
answer from a lawyer for free.
