Bash expansion question

ubuntu 8.10 / intrepid.

The ubuntu bash package version here reports itself as "3.2-4ubuntu1",
but I'm not sure how that compares to the version naming schemes of
other distros.

Also:

 bash$ bash --version
 GNU bash, version 3.2.39(1)-release (i486-pc-linux-gnu)
 Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
