Apple Mail and Thawte vs thunderbird with Enigmail OpenPGP

The Thawte cert is using SMIME to sign the email where as OpenPGP does its
own pgp thing.  Chances are that production email clients will support SMIME
but not PGP, like in the case of your Apple friend.
