I haven't had a lot of experience with closed-back headphones, but my
office provided AKG 271 Studio headphones to all of us to help with
noise issues in our space. They've got great sound isolation,
excellent sound quality, and best of all, I didn't have to pay for
them. I did buy a pair for my brother for Christmas, though, and he
loves them.
A coworker of mine has a pair of JBL Reference 420 headphones
(actually, he has the 610 bluetooth model, but they're identical aside
from the wireless capability) and I found them to be even more
comfortable than the AKG 271s, since the ear cups are very deep.
Unfortunately, I don't know of anywhere you might be able to try them
on locally.
