Perfect, thanks for the info!  I can definitely understand it a lot
better now!  And if I would have thought about it in that way sooner I
might have realized the difference.  When I read list archives I sort
by subject and that usually isn't what I want.  I then sort by thread
and it works a lot better; I guess I can see the argument.  I suppose
if Gmail offered it I'd probably prefer it over Conversations in their
web client.
