Google Groups for Non Google Members/Emails?

What is so terrible about a Google user account?

In my opinion, not much.  However, I'm sure there are people who don't feel
comfortable giving google their information and that should be okay too.
Plus, if you already have an established email, you now have to go and set
up forwarding *again* just to receive emails and it can get annoying if you
have to use everyone else's service.
