I typically use two different "distros:"
- Knoppix, latest version, works on all but the oldest hardware.
Anything worth recovering can run it anyway.
- Ultimate Boot CD for Windows, a Windows XP live cd that can do things
like fix the registries, antivirus, etc.
> The following features are a must.
> Must boot on older hardware.
> Must fit on single ISO image.
> Must read AND write all MSDOS formats including all flavors of NTFS.
> Would be helpful if the distro came ready to roll with ClamAV, as well
> as gParted or something similar for partition table fixing as well as
> some good file recovery utilities preferably something that can
> recover files even if the MBR and the File Allocation Table have been
> Any suggestions folks?
