Excellent suggestion! I just implemented it, and ran "make -j 100" and proceeded to melt my machine, loadavg over 15. :) Anyway, a more reasonable number, say 5, works just great. Thanks for the great tip.

What about using perl to generate a makefile, then use make -j to parallelize
it?
