Jayce asked me to send out a note about my topic.

Originally, this was just going to be a NUPM presentation, but it's a little
bigger than that and Joe (redbeard1) said his Awstats presentation was
likely to be relatively short, so there will be bleedover between NUPM and
PLUG. Feel free to show up at 6:30 or 7:30. I'll try to create some logical
break in the presentation so anyone showing up at 7:30 isn't lost.

I'll be talking about Catalyst - the magical web application development
framework for Perl. You can read about it at
<http://www.catalystframework.org/>.

Catalyst heavily leverages the wealth of code available via CPAN to provide
programmers with a simple-to-work-with scaffolding with lots of bells and
whistles available.

Because of the reliance on CPAN, getting Catalyst installed on a system can
be quite a chore - There are dozens of Perl modules that must be installed.
I'll talk about methods of installing the modules required to go through the
official Catalyst tutorial and then I'll demonstrate how I use yum
repositories and the 'cpan2rpm' utility to install the required Perl modules
as packages for Fedora Core 5.
