fsck at boot?

I'm running Kubuntu Edgy, and I have a 40GB External USB drive.
For some reason the couple of times I have booted, the OS has taken it
upon itself to run fsck on the USB drive at boot which is slowing my
boot times down dramatically.
To add insult to injury it's evidently finding stuff wrong with the
drive, but says it can't fix it. Ok thats fine no big deal, but is
there anyways short of unplugging my drive that I can tell it to NOT
fsck this drive at boot?
Thanks in advance!
