Tracking Email routing

Digging through the logs, I can see that the messages have been accepted 
by sendmail for delivery by our email server.  However, they are often 
followed by an entry with the same ID with stat=Service unavailable. 

A third entry follows the previous two with the same ID, that reads DSN: 
Servie unavailable.

Is this the target email service that is unavailable?
