Dhcpd and DDNS updates

I set the ddns style to interm and the dhcp server didn't even try to
contact the dns server. I read and read and it told me everything
about the TSIG and getting the updates accepted, but the dhcp didn't
even try.
I am using ISC dhcpd3 on Ubuntu.
Any ideas for debuging this?
