I recommend MPlayer. 
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html  If you grab the
"all" codec pack (http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/codecs.html)
and extract it before configuring and compiling MPlayer then it has
support for pretty much everything you can throw at it.
