Looking for a solid Multimedia program for streaming video...

Sorry this is my first submission to PLUG, so go easy on me!

I am looking to record or download a streaming video. Does anyone have a 
recommendation for a good program that will allow me to record streaming 
video while i'm watching it? 

Any tips would be appreciated too!

I'm using SuSE 10 KDE. The firefox browser opens the default flash player 
allowing me to play/pause/rewind, but no record.

Any suggestions?
