LinuxWorld 2007 Wrap-up

The conference was a success in terms of our Supermicro Exhibition. To me, there seemed to be a smaller crowd in attendance - but I couldn't say for sure.

Take a peek at the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) photos that I took. The laptop is considerably smaller than I had thought it might be, but makes sense for kids. I wish this was available to the general public, and available in the US. If it was, I'd pick up a couple for my kids right away.

Linux Kernel Software Engineer 100-110K+
Overview:We are looking for a an experienced Linux Kernel Software Engineer to design, implement, document and maintain Linux kernel modules and drivers related to Solera Networks products. If you are interested in a growth opportunity, and fit the description for the position, we encourage you to apply. The ideal candidate will have a preference for playing an important role in a fast-paced, small business environment where individual employees take ownership.

Job Description & Responsibilities:
• Design, document and implement kernel modules and drivers.

• Design and implement file system and networking features.

Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3-5 years Linux kernel development experience
• Experience with Linux 2.6 kernel
• Experience designing, implementing and documenting Linux kernel
modules
• Experience implementing and maintaining Linux device drivers
• Experience with VFS and Linux file systems
• Experience with TCP/IP and associated networking protocols
• Experience with network packet analysis
• Experience with unit testing and working closely with QA
• Very strong troubleshooting skills
• Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
